Trump’s Cruise Missile Diplomacy

April 11th, 2017

Stephen Lendman

Trump is the latest in a long line of warrior presidents - pursuing America’s longstanding imperial agenda, naked aggression its main strategy of choice.

Endless wars began during the republic’s earliest days, cruise missiles and other modern terror weapons now used instead of earlier era muskets, facilitating mass slaughter and destruction, raping and pillaging one nation after another.

Advancing America’s imperium requires enemies - invented to wage wars. Justifying the unjustifiable repeats with disturbing regularity.

Wars are glorified in the name of peace. State-sponsored violence at home and abroad is the American way. Pacifism is considered sissy and unpatriotic.

America isn’t the land of the free and home of the brave. It isn’t beautiful, except for its privileged few.

Rule of law principles are discarded when conflict with imperial objectives. Hegemons make their own.

War on Syria began when Obama launched it in March 2011, Trump continuing what he began, regime change Washington’s objective, wanting pro-Western puppet rule replacing Syrian sovereign independence.

Media scoundrels cheerlead naked aggression, urge more, ignoring US-led high crimes. Assad was falsely accused of using CWs numerous times, last week most recently.

Trump’s missile diplomacy suggests continued endless war, in Syria and elsewhere, a policy polar opposite his campaign rhetoric.

Peace is considered heresy. Militarism and belligerence reflect the American way. Neocons infesting Congress and the administration assure it.

Endless US war on Syria risks direct confrontation with Russia. On Sunday, Sergey Lavrov said America’s attack on Syria’s airbase aids terrorists Moscow and Damascus are combating, adding:

Accusing Assad of the April 4 CW attack is “not consistent with the facts.” Lavrov called for a thorough, independent, objective, professional investigation of the incident, something Washington opposes.

On Friday, Pentagon officials tried defending the indefensible, falsely blaming Assad for the April 4 CW attack he had nothing to do with, nor earlier ones, all carried out by US-supported terrorists.

The Pentagon falsely claimed the Kahn Sheikhoun incident was “linked to a battlefield desperation decision to stop the opposition from seizing…key regime elements.”

It claimed a Syrian aircraft was overhead on the day and time of the attack - no verifiable proof offered, none suggesting its military carried out the CW attack.

It disputed Russia’s report about Syrian warplanes striking a terrorist facility containing toxic agents, supported by clear evidence.

Russian reports are accurate. US ones consistently lie and deceive. The April 4 CW attack came from the ground, not the air, likely delivered by one or more rockets.

After eliminating its chemical weapons earlier, no evidence suggests Syria has any remaining one. Clear evidence proves US-supported terrorists use sarin, chlorine gas and other toxins, largely aimed at killing defenseless civilians.

The Big Lie persists about Syrian culpability, compounded by claiming (nonexistent) Russian involvement. As always, no credible evidence supports consistently fabricated claims.
