Revving Up War on Trump

May 15th, 2017

Stephen Lendman

Instead of criticizing him for the right reasons, media scoundrels bash him for the wrong ones.

Dark forces in Washington want him weakened, delegitimized, ousted, and replaced by neocon Pence, an easily controlled establishment figure, their sinister agenda in good hands with him as president.

Acting as press agents for power, media scoundrels support what demands condemnation. At war with Trump throughout the campaign, their hostility continues with him as head of state. Firing James Comey is a pretext for revving up war on him, a convenient issue with legs, not going away any time soon, even after a new FBI director is named.

A nasty confirmation fight could follow announcing someone America’s deep state opposes. Meanwhile, Comey’s sacking has been the dominant media story since his May 9 dismissal.

Continuing without letup, here’s a snapshot of scoundrel media weekend coverage from America’s two leading broadsheets, a virtual blizzard of Trump bashing, Comey-related features.

The New York Times

“The Republican’s Guide to Presidential Behavior” - covering Trump’s sacking of Comey, accusing him of “obstruct(ing) justice,” along with lots more venomous charges.

“The Election Is Over, but Trump Can’t Seem to Get Past It” - claiming “he careens from one controversy to another,” highlighting his firing of Comey.

“Looking Like a Liar or a Fool: What It Means to Work for Trump” - saying he’s shown no reluctance to dump surrogates for political reasons.

“What We’re Losing in James Comey” - Along with the Department of Homeland Security and other Justice Department agencies, the FBI remains a longtime fixture of US police state enforcement - a combined American Gestapo.

“Trump Is Terrible at Firing!” - claiming Comey was sacked “in the most unseemly, strange and borderline ridiculous manner humanly possible,” ignoring a likely sinister plot behind the scenes The Times ignores.

“President Trump Craves Loyalty, but Offers None”

“When Will Republicans Stand Up to Trump?”

“Donald Trump a la Mode” - claiming he’s a “child,” not a “shrewd strategist.”

“Trump Sticks a Fork in Comey”

“Is Trump Obstructing Justice?” - calling Comey’s firing part of a “campaign to undermine the rule of law and democratic norms,” referring especially to investigating phony allegations of Russian US election hacking.

All of the above and more in one weekend of Times reporting - not a shred of good journalism in any of it!

The Neocon/CIA-Connected Washington Post

“White House ‘systems failed’ with Comey’s firing, but Trump pushed the buttons”

“Trump’s shifting reason for firing Comey could cost him with Hill leaders”

“Trump must be impeached. Here’s why” - this from former Obama Justice Department member/Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe, ignoring its principles.

“Trump’s top aides need to go” - this piece from John Podesta, Hillary’s campaign chairman with an ax to grind.

“What we know Trump did this week - and why it matters” - focusing on Comey’s sacking, insisting the witch-hunt investigation into (nonexistent) Russian US election hacking must continue.

“A theory: Trump fired Comey because he’s taller” - even an adolescent would write such rubbish.

“Trump to Liberty University graduates: There’s nothing ‘more pathetic’ than ‘being a critic’ “

“Sean Spicer is still contradicting President Trump” - another Comey piece.

Before his announced investigation into Hillary’s private server used for official State Department business, especially since his sacking, most Americans likely didn’t know he was FBI director or anything about him.

Now he dominates media reports, along with Trump for sacking him, bashing him relentlessly for the wrong reasons, failing to explain behind-the-scenes Machiavellian scheming.

It’s all about denigrating and delegitimizing him, along with wanting continued witch-hunt investigations into alleged Russia US election hacking and phony claims about Trump’s connection to Washington’s main geopolitical adversary.

It’s a sinister scheme to prove negatives, much ado about nothing turned into invented scandals.

It risks a coup d’etat ousting of the president, along with possible confrontation between the world’s dominant nuclear powers, the ultimate nightmarish scenario.
