America’s Deplorable Independence

July 4th, 2017

When America gained independence from Britain, everything changed but stayed the same under new management.

Democracy was established in name only. Today a plutocratic police state at war on humanity at home and abroad runs things.

Independent America subjugates ordinary people at home and abroad, exploited by its ruling class for wealth and power - no matter the human cost.

Governance is of, by, and for its privileged few exclusively. We the People in the Constitution’s preamble refers to them, not us. Its general welfare clause means their interests alone, no one else’s.

The rights and needs of ordinary people are grievously harmed under one-party-state rule, duopoly governance with two right wings. Rhetorical differences alone separate them on issues mattering most.

Sovereign independent states America doesn’t control aren’t tolerated, targeted for regime change - wars, color revolutions and coups Washington’s strategies of choice.

Wall Street, war-profiteers, and other corporate predators, along with neocon politicians and Pentagon commanders aim to rule the world. America’s domestic and geopolitical agenda should terrify everyone.

Racism is institutionalized. Torture is official policy. So is state terror on a global scale, homeland tyranny headed toward becoming full-blown - likely another 9/11-type false flag away, possible any time.

Fundamental freedoms are disappearing in plain sight. Peace and stability are deplored. Endless wars of aggression define US foreign policy, diplomacy considered old-fashioned and sissy.

Imperial wars are called liberating ones. Human and civil rights are suppressed for our own good. Patriotism means going along with what harms our welfare and well-being.

Big Brother is no longer fiction. State-of-the-art technology permits institutionalized spying.

Enemies are invented to justify the unjustifiable. Homeland repression targets nonbelievers. Militarized police and mass incarceration protect privilege from beneficial social change.

Voting is an exercise in futility. Dirty business as usual wins every time. From inception to today’s deplorable state, America never was beautiful, equitable or just.

Lunatics infesting Washington risk nuclear war on Russia, China, North Korea, and/or Iran. Things today are more dangerous than any previous post-WW II period.

America’s rage for subjugating all sovereign independent countries may kill us all. The nation’s founders never could have imagined the depths of today’s deplorable state.

Celebratory holiday activities distract from what’s most important. If a way is found to end imperial wars, they’ll end us.
