Netanyahu faces possible indictment for bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and money laundering - discussed in an earlier article.
His close confidant, Ari Harow, turned state’s witness against him. A gag order in place until September 17 prevents information about the case from coming out.
Police recommended indicting Netanyahu. If charges against him are made, state prosecutors will decide whether to hold him accountable. Based on what’s known, there’s plenty about his shady dealings to prosecute and convict.
Last year, Israeli State Comptroller Joseph Shapira reported evidence of significant Netanyahu financial improprieties, saying a criminal investigation is warranted.
Shapira indicated his expenditures for two personal residence in Jerusalem and Caesarea were excessive and improper without integrity or transparency. Large sums were involved.
Government funds were used for personal expenses, including food, hospitality, cleaning, maintenance, electrical work, makeup, hairstyling and travel unrelated to state business.
His wife Sara may be charged with using public funds for personal use. Earlier, Jerusalem’s Labor Court found her guilty of subjecting former employee Guy Eliyahu to humiliating treatment. Judge Dita Pruginin fined her around $30,000 in damages.
Reportedly, Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is expected to indict Sara Netanyahu later this month on charges of using public funds for personal housekeeping expenses, receiving goods under false pretenses, falsifying documents, and breach of trust.
Will Netanyahu and wife Sara both end up in the dock? Will they do hard time for wrongdoing?
No Israeli politician was ever prosecuted for high crimes against Palestinians, supporting terrorism, or terror-bombing other countries - far more serious than civil wrongdoing.
