What's Behind the Foreclosure Crisis

October 13th, 2010

By Numerian posted by Michael Collins

"MERS acts as nominee in the county land records for the lender and servicer. Any loan registered on the MERS® System is inoculated against future assignments because MERS remains the nominal mortgagee no matter how many times servicing is traded. MERS as original mortgagee (MOM) is approved by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, FHA and VA, California and Utah Housing Finance Agencies, as well as all of the major Wall Street rating agencies." About theMortgage Electronic Registration System, MERS

The foreclosure scandal surrounding the US financial industry is being portrayed by the banks as a technical problem which requires that some documentation errors be fixed. The White House has rejected the calls of many in the Congress for a nationwide moratorium on foreclosures on the grounds that there are quite a lot of them that are legitimate and should be processed. Government officials say it is going to take just a little bit of time to sort out these from the flawed foreclosures.

Democracy is Coming...to the USA

October 13th, 2010

By Timothy V. Gatto

It’s about time that Americans get over themselves and look to Latin America with a new eye. The changes that are happening to the nations of South America are astounding. Hugo Chavez is not the strongman dictator that the United States would want you to believe he is. Evo Morales is not the dictator that the U.S. State Department would like you to believe he is. The leaders of South America are a vibrant breath of fresh air and an example of what we here in the United States could become.

It is no accident that left-wing governments have appeared in South America. The leaders of the US can only blame themselves for the rise of socialism to our south. Years of American imperialism and of the heavy hand of the CIA and the DEA are prime examples of why the left has come to power. Even though the media of the left leaning Bolivarian States is controlled by the right (consisting of the corporatists and the wealthy landowners), the people of Latin America have managed to see through the veneer of their lies and have turned out and elected people with visionary foresight to share the resources of their respective natural resources with the people. They are taking the wealth that for centuries was in the hands of the few and sharing it with the many.

37 years after the October war

October 12th, 2010

Salim Nazzal

In the Arab orient they call it Tichreen war, in Egypt they call it October war, in other parts of the Arab world they call it Ramadan war, in Israel they call Yom Kippur war, in other parts of the world they call it the 1973 war, all these names are to name the war that took place 37 years ago between Arabs and Israel. The question is how to place this war in the Arab history.

In the view of most Arab historians, the importance of this war lies in two major points; the first is that this war was initiated by Arabs to free their land for the first time after three repetitive defeats in 1948, 1956, 1967.

Israel's New Loyalty Oath

October 12th, 2010

by Stephen Lendman

Since inception, Israel's democracy was illusory, but of late it's further eroded. The Cabinet's October 10 adopted Law of Citizenship amendment requires all non-Jews wanting it to pledge loyalty to "the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state," its latest anti-democratic measure.

Voting 22 - 8, it evoked protests from Israeli artists, writers and intellectuals in front of Tel Aviv's Independence Hall against "the continuous erosion of Israeli democracy." Actress Hana Maron quoted Israel's Declaration of Independence saying:

Advice to Desperate Congressional Dems: Ignore Wall Street Puppet Obama, and Demand a Five-Year Freeze on All Home Foreclosures in the Spirit of the Frazier-Lemke Act of 1935!

October 11th, 2010

Webster G. Tarpley, Ph.D.

In the last phase of the election campaign, an issue has emerged which allows voters to separate Wall Street stooges in both parties from real advocates of the middle class. The issue is the massive campaign of foreclosures against the American middle class being carried out by Wall Street zombie bankers who owe their very existence to taxpayer bailouts. Since the world derivatives panic began in 2007, millions of homes each year have been seized by the Wall Street predators, sometimes under the legal color provided by adjustable rate mortgages and, as has now been revealed, often using completely illegal paperwork to throw average Americans and their families out on the street and frequently into poverty and destitution.

Fraud in America

October 11th, 2010

by Stephen Lendman

A systemic problem, it's everywhere, especially in savage capitalism's greed-driven system, enriching a global royalty at the expense of most others. In his book "On Fact and Fraud: Cautionary Tales from the Front Lines of Science," David Goodstein examined examples from centuries back to more recent times, including some accusations turning out to be false.

Trinity University's Bob Jensen maintains fraud updates through June 2009 on his web site, accessed through the following link:

DEEP NEED FOR THIRD PARTY / TEA PARTY IS GOP IN DRAG

October 11th, 2010

Allen L Roland

Amidst the extremist chaos of a Tea Party that is really the GOP in drag ~ obsessing about sex, abortion and religion ~ lies a genuine deep desire of Americans for a third party to effectively challenge our stagnant two party system and offer the hard truth without being beholden to special interest groups.

The intelligent voter of 2010, like myself, is about to scream on having no clear choice between Democrats and Republicans and a Tea Party ~ which is really the Republican party in drag. The Tea Party has funnelled much of voters rightful anger into far right craziness such as these outrageous quotes from Tea Party candidates ~ courtesy of Devona Walker. http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasy/2010/10/08/top-10-craziest-tea-party-quotes-of-all-time/

UPCOMING ELECTION, FOREIGN CRIMINAL SYNDICATES BUYING AMERICA’S GOVERNMENT

October 10th, 2010

By Gordon Duff

FLASH: FOX NEWS EXPOSES 9/11 COVER-UP (VIDEO)

“The Supreme Court created a new “corporate” nobility where, in place of “divine right” , a sub-human species, a parasitic class, congress, lobbyists, the Pentagon, the organs of state security, all bowing and scraping to their masters in China, Israel, Saudi Arabia and London. They have attached themselves like leeches, sucking the life out of America.

…the Bush presidency was illegal and all acts under his authority are, according to the constitution as written, “null and void.” If only we could bring the thousands, the millions who died because of this genuinely criminal act back to life.“

Deflating the Strategy of Tension

October 10th, 2010

Peter Chamberlin

The flexibility of Western pipeline plans makes it difficult to pin-down exactly where the lines are drawn between the US and the former USSR, especially since the so-called “reset” in relations has supposedly taken effect. The merger of American and Russian development plans for the Central Asian region should mean that the lines of division have all been erased. But that is impossible, simply because the differences between systems that have been made prominent by human rights concerns, makes it necessary to maintain at least the illusion that the authoritarian and democratic positions are not identical.

On the surface, the problems associated with such a “reset” would seem to explain the remaining divisions between East and West, but there are hidden considerations. The sinking of the American economic position, in contrast to the rising Russian status, brews strong temptations for the Russian side to seek permanent advantage over their former nemesis and for the American side, strong impetus to deny the “Russkies” their moment of schadenfreude [I always swore that I would never use that word]. The merger of the two sides’ interests probably accounts for the sudden threat of “Islamists” all over the former Soviet territory. The unknown factor is whether America’s “Islamists” are still serving America’s anti-Russian agenda, or whether their mission has been compromised so that their violence serves both American and Russian plans.
