Militarism in Chicago

September 1st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

US Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy Blue Angels perform stunt flying exhibitions in US air shows nationwide - their mission to promote militarism, imperial wars, and aid recruiting.

Annually they participate in Chicago’s Air and Water Show, coming this weekend along Lake Michigan’s lakefront close to where I live - assaulting city residents like myself with the roar and toxic pollution of low-flying warplanes, their din disturbingly audible indoors, much more so close to where they perform stunts - practicing this Friday, in action Saturday and Sunday, my most disliked weekend of the year.

This year, Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II “advanced stealth” warplane will participate - a $2 trillion boondoggle in development, production, operations and maintenance, yet to achieve its performance objectives and perhaps never will.

Syria: Victim of US State Terror

September 1st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Syria is one of numerous US war theaters - naked aggression against sovereign independent countries to replace their ruling authorities with pro-Western puppet governance.

An emailer asked me when WW III might begin. It’s perhaps ongoing with no one noticing, I said - begun with US aggression on Afghanistan, the 9/11 mother of all false flags the pretext, or maybe when the Clintons raped Yugoslavia. Hillary urged husband Bill to wage war.

Things seem certain to become worse ahead - the ominous prospect of war on Russia, China and Iran, all longstanding US regime change targets, obstacles in the way of it achieving unchallenged global dominance.

NYT Editors Ignore Clinton Foundation Racketeering Practices

September 1st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

More than any previous time in US history, America seems poised to anoint a known legally, ethically and morally tainted candidate to the nation’s highest office - testimony to its unprecedented evil, its threat to world peace and what remains of fundamental freedoms.

Hillary more than any previous presidential aspirant is unfit to serve - belonging in prison, not high office, racketeering one of her many high crimes.

Trump was right saying it’s hard knowing where the Clinton Foundation ended and the State Department began. As America’s chief foreign policy official, Hillary focused mainly on waging war and selling influence.

She and husband Bill became super-rich by corrupt pay-to-pay practices. Foreign regimes, corporate predators, and wealthy individuals had to donate plenty to their foundation to gain access to Hillary while at State.

It was “set up as a business to profit from public office,” said Trump - while masquerading as a charitable NGO, the Clintons stashing millions of dollars in tax havens, self-enriching by other dubious practices.

Impeaching Dilma Rousseff Democracy’s Death Blow in Brazil

September 1st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

It’s all over but the vote-counting, scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday.

Washington conspired with fascists in Brazil at a time its economy is mired in Depression, using Rousseff’s low approval rating during hard times to falsely accuse her of budget-manipulating crimes she didn’t commit.

Impeachment is certain, pre-scripted, a coup d’etat by any standard. Enough Senate votes exist to oust her, a scandalous exercise in tyranny triumphing over democratic governance - ordinary Brazilians to be harmed most by punishing neoliberal harshness when vital aid is most needed. Rousseff is currently suspended from office, awaiting the outcome of Senate proceedings to remove her by impeachment.

On Monday, she addressed the body honorably, forthrightly and truthfully, saying “I am here to look directly in your eyes to say…I have nothing to hide. I did not commit the crimes that I am accused of.”

Russia a Threat to US Imperial Interests

August 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Had Putin not intervened responsibly against US-supported terrorists in Syria, all might have been lost, Iran awaiting the next onslaught.

Committed to defeating terrorism in Syria to prevent its spread to Russia’s heartland, Putin stepped up efforts responsibly, more strongly allied with Iran and yet to be determined aid from China, likely short of direct military involvement.

Russian warplanes and cruise missiles now attack terrorist positions in Syria from Iranian territory. Black Sea warships firepower destroyed “a command post and a terrorist base near the village of Dar Taaza as well as a production site of mortar ammunition and an arms depot in Aleppo province,” according to Russia’s Defense Ministry.

Its military might is a direct threat to America’s sought unchallenged regional dominance. So is Putin’s determination to defeat the scourge of US-supported terrorism.

Aleppo Boy Story: Stunt to Blame Russia, Urge Escalated War

August 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Little Omran Daqneesh is being used, the story about him gone viral - thinly veiled propaganda to blame Russia and Syria for Obama’s naked aggression against a nation threatening no others.

It’s a way to further demonize both countries and enlist public support for greater aggression than already. Ignored are tens of millions of corpses from endless US imperial wars, from the republic’s inception to today - nameless, faceless victims of America’s rage for global dominance, no matter the mounting body count to achieve it. Imperialism works this way, America its leading exponent. Media scoundrels support its viciousness instead of condemning it, the public carpet-bombed with misinformation and Big Lies, hard truths kept under wraps.

All wars are based on deception and lies. Hard truths expose them. Bread and circuses keep most people distracted.

Russia Won’t Let International Terrorism Triumph in Syria, China to Help

August 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

A lot rides on defeating US imperialism in Syria. The fate of the region and beyond hangs in the balance.

If Syria goes, Iran is next, a war if initiated by Washington far more potentially consequential and devastating.

Iran’s population alone makes it an important regional country - four times the size of Syria at around 80 million. Imagine the possible war-related death, injury and displacement toll.

Transforming the Islamic Republic into a US vassal state would give America and Israel unchallenged Middle East dominance.

NYT Anti-Trump Polemic Asked the Wrong Question

August 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

“How can America recover from Donald Trump,” Times editors asked?

Instead they should ask how much longer can humanity withstand America’s rape, destruction, and pillage of one country after another, the major issue of our time, no matter which wing its one-party state holds power?

Trump’s racist, pro-business, anti-progressive hawkish agenda makes him a deplorable choice for president.

Hillary is worse - a known felon, a war goddess obsessed with world conquest and dominance, comfortable about using nuclear weapons, a racketeer influence-peddler, a perjurer, an emotionally unstable neocon lunatic too ruthless and dangerous to entrust with any public responsibility.

“The toxic effects of Trumpism will have to be addressed,” Times editors ranted. He’s never held public office so can’t be held accountable for decades of irresponsible bipartisan policies.

Hillary’s record speaks for itself - automatically disqualifying her from public office in any just society. She belongs in prison, not the White House.

Western Propaganda Paid for in Syrian Blood

August 31st, 2016

Stephen Lendman

In his important book, titled “The Dirty War on Syria” Tim Anderson discusses how US naked aggression on a nonbelligerent country relies on “a level of mass disinformation not seen in living memory.”

There’s nothing civil about war in Syria, raped by US imperialism, wanting pro-Western puppet governance replacing its sovereign independence.

Media scoundrels are complicit in what’s going on, supporting US-sponsored mass slaughter and destruction instead of denouncing it.

Writer, photographer, peace activist Vanessa Beeley interviewed Assad political and media advisor Bouthiana Shaaban in Damascus.

America the Epicenter of Pure Evil

August 30th, 2016

Stephen Lendman

No nation in world history harmed more people grievously over a longer duration than America - never beautiful, no bastion of democratic values, no advocate of world peace and stability.

Bipartisan lunatics run things, a criminal cabal, humanity’s greatest threat. The domestic and geopolitical agendas of each new administration is worse than its predecessors.

Elections when held are farcical. Duopoly power always wins, monied interests alone served, ordinary people increasingly harmed - full-blown tyranny and nuclear war perhaps following the next major state-sponsored false flag.

Americans have no say on how they’re governed, democracy a mirage. None whatever exists. Scoundrel media and self-serving politicians pretend otherwise - most people either unaware of how they’re ill-served or too indifferent to try changing things, going along with what harms them.
