Huge Stakes in the US Presidential Race

August 3rd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

US elections matter, notably with such hugely important domestic and geopolitical issues at stake.

No matter who wins in November, ordinary people worldwide lose - especially if Hillary succeeds Obama next year.

Never before in US history has a more reviled and recklessly dangerous aspirant sought the nation’s highest office - a shocking indictment of a political system too debauched to fix.

It’s crucial to defeat a candidate whose public record exposes an unprecedented menace - combined with unacceptable incompetence and emotional instability to handle the nation’s domestic and foreign affairs. Bill and Hillary Clinton represent the worst of America. Author Joan Didion once called them “purveyors of fables of their own making, or worse, fables conceived by political strategists with designs” solely on vote-getting, not public service.

Called the most powerful woman in America, Hillary once failed her bar exam, revealing mediocre competence at best.

Theresa May Decided Britain First

August 3rd, 2016

Gilad Atzmon

British Jews are not so sure about Theresa May. Her cabinet “has fewer Jewish ministers than any government for a decade” the JC reported last week. Theresa certainly witnessed how the Jewish lobby crashed Corbyn and the Labour party. She probably came to the conclusion that she would do much better without that foreign interventionist lobby dominating her political decisions. She decided Britain first.

Some Jews seem to have serious problems with Sir Alan Duncan's new role as a Foreign Office minister.

Syria’s Assad Blasts US Imperial Policies

August 3rd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

America’s imperial agenda threatens world peace, waging forever wars in multiple theaters, setting nations ablaze, risking the world’s third global war with weapons of mass destruction.

The US Peace Council is an “anti-imperialist organization committed to peace, economic and social justice and to international solidarity with the peoples of the world.”

In late April, it denounced Obama’s escalation of war on Syria, wanting a client state installed serving US interests, its sovereign independent government replaced. On Thursday, a PC delegation met with Assad in Damascus, its head Henry Lowendorf, saying “(w)e had the honor to meet President al-Assad.”

“He was straightforward and wanted us to be so. We related to him what we saw and he provided rational, accurate and wise answers for our questions.”

Jill, not Hill!!

August 3rd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Activists in Philadelphia’s downtown plaza chanted “Jill, not Hill.”

Jill Stein, presumptive Green Party presidential nominee, a longtime physician/activist, a true populist, wanting her professional skills used to heal a sick nation.

It desperately needs what she can provide, scoundrel media-supported corrupted duopoly power denying her the chance to become president by virtually ignoring her candidacy, opposing what she stands for.

She remains redoubtable and heroic, her progressive agenda what the world needs now, genuinely supporting:

NATO Chief WSJ Op-Ed: Misinformation and Big Lies

August 2nd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Savvy news consumers know US-led Western media lie, deceive, misinform and betray them disgracefully, featuring all propaganda all the time on issues mattering most.

Giving WSJ op-ed space to US-installed NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg is one of many notable insults to readers. His headline gave him away, saying “NATO Muscles Up to Fight ISIS.”

“America, you are not alone in this fight,” he said. “Your friends and allies stand with you. And so does NATO. That is why I will join coalition defense ministers in Washington, DC, this week as they intensify the fight against ISIS.”

Fact: America controls NATO, its member states, and officials like Stoltenberg, used as tools to advance its imperial objectives, waging war on humanity to achieve them.

Turkey’s Erdogan Abolishes Constitutional Governance

August 2nd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

On Wednesday, Turkey’s fading democratic remnants died. Erdogan officially usurped dictatorial power.

He suspended constitutional law and parliamentary governance - 90-day emergency authority replacing it, likely to be extended indefinitely so he can ruthlessly eliminate all elements potentially challenging his absolute rule.

Interviewed by Qatar’s owned and operated Al Jazeera, he lied claiming circumventing constitutional governance “remain(s) inside a democratic parliamentary system,” adding:“(W)hatever is necessary for the nation’s peace and stability will be done,” suggesting reign of terror ruthlessness will continue.

“I don’t think we have come to the end of it yet,” he said. “(T)he declaration of the state of emergency has the sole purpose of taking the necessary measures in the face of the terrorist threat that our country is facing.”

Robotic Politics is Menace to Global Peace and Security

August 2nd, 2016

Mahboob A Khawaja, PhD.

Warmongering as an institution spells out history’s malicious mistakes, often irretrievable. America needs a visionary transformational leadership capable to restore democracy, people-oriented system of governance, political accountability and to avert fascism on a global scale. Should such a leader not be equipped with superb insight, originality and verve, to make the masses think about a new and an emerging global civil society away from the existing reactionary onslaught of blame-games and failed institutions, and invigorated by human rights principles and religious tolerance. Does America want another Clinton or Trump to slip toward a geopolitical morass? One wonders if American presidential elections are just a prototype of robotic political model full of incurable resentment and repeated historical ironies to dominate and control the world. Could the next American president envision an apocalyptic ending to humanity's stint on planet Earth?

Collective Punishment to Follow Tel Aviv Shootings

August 2nd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Lawless collective punishment usually follows violent incidents involving Palestinians - most often state-sponsored, not their fault.

Wednesday evening Tel Aviv shootings were unusual, reports indicating four Israelis killed, 16 wounded at the Sarona open-air shopping center, according to Israeli emergency services.

Two armed men reportedly disguised as orthodox Jews opened fire indiscriminately. Suspects were arrested. One is hospitalized in moderate condition.Israel automatically calls these incidents “terrorist” attacks, using them to demonize all Palestinians, justifying unjustifiable collective punishment.

Netanyahu convened a Thursday security meeting, harsh recrimination sure to follow, nonviolent Palestinians to suffer unfairly for the crimes of two individuals.

Disturbing Reality in Syria

August 2nd, 2016

Stephen Lendman

Endless war continues with no prospect for peace because Washington rejects it - wanting overwhelmingly popular Bashar al-Assad forcibly ousted, knowing he won’t step down voluntarily nor should he.

International law supports him. Syrians alone may decide who’ll lead them, free from foreign interference. All armed opposition groups in Syria engaged in combat against government forces along with slaughtering defenseless civilians are terrorists.

Washington and its rogue allies support them - imported death squads unable to exist without foreign backing.
