The Eighth Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishments. Locking people in cages longterm with little or no human contact flagrantly violates the letter and spirit of the law. Yet it’s standard US prison practice nationwide.
America runs the world’s largest gulag system - around 2.4 million people domestically along with a covert global network of black sites, Guantanamo the tip of the iceberg.
The entire system is viciously punitive, mostly affecting people of color, half or more imprisoned for nonviolent crimes, over 500,000 for illicit drug related offenses.

Understanding human conflict requires us to understand human psychology. And it is only when we understand the psychology that drives conflict that we can take intelligent steps to address it.
Unfortunately, understanding the psychology of conflict is not easy and I would like to illustrate one significant problem in this regard and explain what we can do about it. That problem is what is often called 'projection' or 'transference' and it illustrates the importance of emotional, as distinct from intellectual, content in any conflict.

However, in light of the internecine war in Syria, especially the shameless Iranian efforts to depopulate some Sunni towns and villages in order to resettle them with Shiite settlers, one can't just pretend that the Iranians are just behaving within the normal order of things and that they are only pursuing legitimate political goals just like other global and regional powers do.

Voters rate her poorly on honesty, trustworthiness and transparency. When asked to describe her, “liar” is the word most often mentioned - then “dishonest,” untrustworthy,” and “criminal.”
She can’t convince people she’s not hiding something. Her sordid past perhaps caught up with her. Polls show Joe Biden is most favored against Republicans - maybe enough to convince him to declare his candidacy. Clinton campaign aides say she’s rebooting, aiming to reinvent herself as kinder, gentler. She’ll find it hard to erase her sordid past or change her image in voter minds once fixed.

On September 10, 2014, Obama lied claiming his intent “to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL” - adding “these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond that region, including to the United States.”
He willfully misled the US public saying he “ordered our military to take targeted action against ISIL to stop its advances…These strikes…helped save the lives of thousands of innocent men, women and children.”
