Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Gratuitous Mass Murder

August 10th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

The atomic age began on August 6, 1945 in real time - after its July 16 pre-dawn open-air birth in successful Alamogordo, NM testing.

At the time, perhaps prophetically General Thomas Farrell said “(w)e were reaching into the unknown, and we did not know what might come of it.”

Called by some “the father of the atomic bomb,” Robert Oppenheimer quoted from the Bhagavad Gita saying: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”

August 6 marks the 70th anniversary of one of history’s great crimes, followed three days later by incinerating Nagasaki.

At least 200,000 died, many others scarred for life, future generations to this day harmed by radiologically caused birth defects and other serious health problems.

Big Lies still claim bombing both cities hastened war’s end and saved many lives. Truman informed the public deceitfully saying bombing Hiroshima “destroyed its usefulness to the enemy.”“It was to spare the Japanese people from (further) utter destruction…If they do not now accept our terms they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the likes of which has never been seen on this earth.”

Political Debates: Theater, not Substance

August 10th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Thursday night in Cleveland, demagoguery took center stage. Ten Republican aspirants participated.

They avoided explaining their support for endless wars, monied interests over popular ones, and police state crackdowns on resistance to what no one should tolerate.

US-style political “debates” are farcical. Why anyone wastes time watching them, they’ll have to explain. America’s political process is too corrupted to fix.

The late Gore Vidal said “I do not think that the American System in its present state of decadence is worth preserving. There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party…and it has two right wings: Republicans and Democrats.”

He called US-style democracy a system "where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates" no different from each other.

"By the time a man gets to be presidential material, he's been bought ten times over.” America is “rotting away at a funereal pace. We’ll have a military dictatorship pretty soon…”

Bread and circuses can’t conceal it - nor phony political debates. On issues mattering most, all major party candidates are cardboard cutouts of each other.

Thursday’s farce was made-for-television theatrics, raucous sparring to hold the attention of viewers tuning in to watch - entertained, not informed, wasting time best spent on productive activities.

Countless Police Killings Of Citizens Reflect Official Law Enforcement Policy Promoted By Psychologist

August 9th, 2015

“121 Dead: July Was the Deadliest Month in Recent History for Police Killings”
SOTN Editor’s Note:
The preceding headline indicates just how serious police brutality and the outright killing of innocent civilians have become. The police and sheriff departments across the USA have been systematically militarized and lethalized. The article goes on to say that:

In the past, police departments and government organizations like the FBI have been responsible for counting the deaths of those murdered by police. However, these figures were always grossly miscalculated, and accounted for only a fraction of the people who were actually killed.
(Source: The FreeThoughtProject.com)

Now we find out, as the 2 articles below categorically state, that law enforcement personnel are literally trained “to shoot first, ask questions later”!

What is most concerning is that this deadly and dangerous state of affairs continues to devolve in the wrong direction. The U.S. Federal Government has advanced an ongoing agenda of institutionalized murder and mayhem by law enforcement as a means of deliberately intimidating the American people. The FEDs now operate as a glorified protection racket serving their true masters throughout the global plutocratic oligarchy.

The Palestinian Authority is failing the Palestinian people

August 9th, 2015

By Khalid Amayreh in Occupied Palestine

When the Palestinian Authority (PA) was created following the scandalous Oslo Accords in 1993, many Palestinians hoped that the new reality would eventually give them a semblance of freedom from the sinister Israeli occupation.

Now, 22 years later, most Palestinians feel betrayed, disappointed and disillusioned by the gigantic fiasco of the PA, nearly at all levels.

Politically, Israel has effectively killed any remaining realistic prospects for the establishment of a viable and territorially-contiguous Palestinian state worthy of the name. Jewish settlements are ubiquitous all over the West Bank and it is highly unlikely that a peace-minded government would appear in Israel in the foreseeable and intermediate future as the Israeli Jewish society continues to drift toward fanaticism, racism and fascism.

Falsifying History In Behalf Of Agendas

August 9th, 2015

Paul Craig Roberts

In an article on April 13 ( http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2015/04/13/power-lies/ ) I used the so-called Civil War and the myths with which court historians have encumbered that war to show how history is falsified in order to serve agendas.I pointed out that it was a war of secession, not a civil war as the South was not fighting the North for control of the government in Washington. As for the matter of slavery, all of Lincoln’s statements prove that he was neither for the blacks nor against slavery. Yet he has been turned into a civil rights hero, and a war of northern aggression, whose purpose Lincoln stated over and over was “to preserve the union” (the empire), has been converted into a war to free the slaves. As for the Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln said it was “a practical war measure” that would help in defeating the South and would convince Europe, which was considering recognizing the Confederacy, that Washington was motivated by “something more than ambition.” The proclamation only freed slaves in the Confederacy, not in the Union. As Lincoln’s Secretary of State put it: “we emancipated slaves where we cannot reach them and hold them in bondage where we can set them free.”

Israel Murders Father of Immolated Palestinian Baby

August 9th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Saad Dawabsha died early Saturday morning from severe third-degree burns covering 80% of his body - caused by arson committed by racist Israeli settlers.

Authorities let them rampage freely against Palestinian civilians. Official expressions of outrage against the murder belie Israel’s longstanding genocidal policy.

Saad’s 18-month-old son Ali was burned alive in the vicious attack. It wasn’t the first time extremist settlers set a Palestinian home ablaze. For sure not the last. Saad’s wife Riham and four-year-old son Ahmad remain in critical condition - suffering from third-degree burns covering most of their bodies. They’re clinging to life precariously.

Hiroshima and more

August 9th, 2015

"Mazin Qumsiyeh"

70 years ago, on August 6 and August 9, hthe US government of Harry Truman dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Here is from my visit and speak on that anniversary August 6, 2013 in Hirshima: http://popular-resistance.blogspot.com/2013/08/palestinian-in-hiroshima.html. This is the same Truman that pushed successfully to create nuclear armed apartheid state of Israel that is terrorizing Palestinians and has committed hundreds of massacres. Today Saad Dawabshe died of his severe burns. He is the father of 18 month old martyr Ali who was burned alive in the attack by racist Jewish colonial settlers on their family home. The mother and second child still in critical condition. And the world leaves a group of “pyromaniacs led by an egalomaniac” running a tinderbox (not my words but words of an ex-Director of Israel’s security service, see below). But the struggle goes on. Sergey Lavrov Says US Spreads Global Terrorism

August 9th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

On April 4, 1967 (exactly one year to the day before his state-sponsored assassination), Martin Luther King called America “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today” - in his Beyond Vietnam speech delivered at New York’s Riverside Church.

America is “on the wrong side of a world revolution,” he said. It allies with “landed gentry (against) shirtless and barefoot people.”

“(C)apitalists of the West invest huge sums of money in Asia, Africa and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of the countries.”

Gorbachev Fears Nuclear War

August 9th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Aging and illness months earlier haven’t affected his outspokenness on issues as vital as preventing nuclear war. Interviewed by Spiegel Online, he said as long as these weapons exist, “sooner or later they will be used.”

They’re not going away - at least no time soon. Washington intends spending $1 trillion over the next 30 years upgrading its already formidable arsenal - a warning of intent to use against Russia, China or any other nation challenging its quest for world dominance. Gorbachev’s message is clear. If these weapons aren’t eliminated, they’ll eliminate us. Founder of America’s nuclear navy Admiral Hyman Rickover said the same thing in 1982 congressional testimony.

"In all wars, man has used the best weapons available to him.” he stressed. “If history has any meaning for us, it shows that men will continue to use (them) to win."

Hiroshima & Nagasaki Atomic Bombings: Deliberate Plot To Start The Cold War

August 8th, 2015

The Greatest War Crimes Of The Modern Era

USA Committed Acts of Sheer Cowardice by Dropping Two Atomic Bombs on Civilian Populations
The US Military Committed the Worst Atrocities of World War II to Prevent Soviet Influence over Japan and Stop Their Oil & Gas Trade
State of the Nation

Moments after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan
“My God, What Have We Done?”
— Captain Robert A. Lewis, co-pilot of the Enola Gay, the B-29 Superfortress bomber which dropped the atomic bomb Little Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima

The detonations of the atomic bombs over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan constitute the greatest war crimes of the modern era. Neither nuclear attack was legally defensible or lawful by any standard. Nor were those atomic bombings ethically sound or morally justified in any way. In short, both episodes of nuclear annihilation were acts of naked aggression and unjustifiable violence against innocent civilian population centers.

Just as importantly, both war crimes were completely unnecessary as they were (i) perpetrated as mere experiments by the U.S. scientific and military establishments, and (ii) meant to deliver a global message from the U.S. government and political class. One of the most significant messages was meant directed at the Soviet Union. In the wake of World War II there would be a New World Order (NWO) established and the United States of America would operate as the military arm of that NWO.

The USA: Military Arm Of The New World Order

The highest ranking U.S. officials and military personnel responsible for those 2 atrocities carried out against defenseless and powerless Japanese civilians include President Harry S. Truman, Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson, Chief of Staff of the United States Army and General of the Army George Marshall, and the Army Commander-in-Chief in the Pacific and General of the Army Douglas MacArthur.
