Turkey Mobilized to Invade Syria?

July 8th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Syrians have suffered horrendously since Obama launched proxy war in early 2011 to replace Bashar al-Assad with a US-controlled stooge, eliminate an Israeli rival and isolate Iran with plans to topple its government ahead - perhaps the same way as against Syria or maybe by joint US/Israeli war.

Don't be fooled by ongoing nuclear talks no matter how they turn out. Washington and Israel want all regional independent governments ousted. Endless wars explain their imperial agendas.

On Monday, Press TV reported possible Turkish intervention in Syria. Thousands of troops and heavy armaments are mobilized along its border ready to invade if ordered.

Hillary Clinton Threatens World Peace

July 7th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

It's hard imagining a worse choice for the nation's highest office than presidential aspirant/unindicted war criminal Hillary Clinton - notoriously called a war goddess.

Sixteen months ahead of next year's election, she's in full campaign mode recklessly making baseless/inflammatory accusations likely influencing policies if elected.

She's part of America's lunatic fringe masquerading as a populist democrat. Earlier she threatened to "totally obliterate" Iran - meaning a peaceful nation's entire population.

"No" Supporters Win in Greece: Now What?

July 7th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Sunday evening in Greece should have been time for celebrations. "No" votes won decisively with over a 61% majority.

Phony corporate media polls showed the "yes" camp prevailing - to discourage "no" supporters from voting as well as swing undecided ones to accept Troika demands.

At the same time, heavy-handed Troika and corporate media tactics bombarded Greeks with relentless fear-mongering, Big Lies and threats for voting "no."

It didn't work. In this respect, Sunday's vote was a huge triumph. Ordinary people had some say over their futures - a moment of democracy in an ocean of monied-controlled tyranny. Hold the cheers.

AP Shames Merkel on Greece; LaRouche Urges Story Be Spread

July 7th, 2015

By larouchepac.com

EIR Founding Editor Lyndon LaRouche, whose July 1 statement, "The Trans-Atlantic Financial System Is Bankrupt, Not Greece," has circulated and been echoed widely from www.LaRouchePAC.com, today urged the widest circulation of an Associated Press article which recommends an emergency debt conference for Greece.

The article's headline is "Germany resists debt relief for Greece, but benefited from such a plan after WWII," referring to the 1953 London Debt Conference which arranged the writeoff of half of all German debt going back to the post-World War I period, and helped unleash the "German Economic Miracle" of the 1950s through 1970s.

Among others locations, the AP report appeared at USNews on July 2, just as the IMF reluctantly made public its [leaked] staff report which acknowledged that at least 50-60 billion euros of Greece's unpayable debt has to be relieved. That would be only 20% of Greece's current debt, but Germany received relief from nearly half of its debt in 1953, when Greece was one of its creditors.

Global Warming: A Threat To Humanity? Interview with Carolyn Baker

July 7th, 2015

by Ophelia and Dylan Murphy

"For human beings… to destroy the biological diversity of God’s creation; for human beings to degrade the integrity of the earth by causing changes in its climate, by stripping the earth of its natural forests or destroying its wetlands; for human beings to contaminate the earth’s waters, its land, its air, and its life – these are sins” Pope Francis"

The recent intervention by Pope Francis into the debate over climate change has once put this pressing issue back into the public eye. His intervention merely confirms the many warnings given by so many climate scientists that humanity is tobogganing towards disaster with eyes wide shut.

Greece to EU - Drop Dead!

July 6th, 2015

Michael Collins
austerity

The referendum of 5 July will stay in history as a unique moment when a small European nation rose up against debt-bondage.” Yanis Varoufakis, Finance Minister, Greece

Sixty percent of Greek voters rejected the financial bailout proposal offered by the European Union (EU) in Sunday’s referendum. The EU-IMF proposal relied heavily on austerity, which would have taken current financial hardships to nightmarish proportions for the vast majority of Greeks. (Image)

As it’s used in international finance, austerity is best understood as Robin Hood in reverse. The big banks and their stooges in government make bad deals all over the world to finance national (sovereign) debt, the deals fall apart, and then the banks insist that citizens of the debtor nation pay back the loans by sacrificing social services, public works, retirement programs, etc.

Hillary Clinton Warns of Nonexistent Iranian Threat to Israel

July 6th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Iran promotes regional peace and stability. It threatens no other nation. Claims about it wanting Israel destroyed are manufactured Big Lies - repeated to demonize the Islamic Republic, maintain lawless sanctions and keep it isolated.

On Friday, presidential aspirant/unindicted war criminal Hillary Clinton addressed a hand-picked audience at a Dartmouth College campaign event. She lied calling Iran an "existential threat to Israel." She demonized Tehran further saying "I hope we are able to get a deal next week that puts a lid on (its) nuclear weapons program."

Human Rights in Venezuela v. America

July 6th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Both countries are polar opposites when it comes to respecting the rights of their people and others worldwide. They're constitutional worlds apart.

Venezuela enshrines human rights in its document - approved overwhelmingly in a December 1999 referendum.

It "establish(ed) a democratic, participatory and self-reliant, multiethnic and multicultural society in a just, federal and decentralized State that embodies the values of freedom, independence, peace, solidarity, the common good, the nation's territorial integrity, comity and the rule of law for this and future generations."

Israel Falsely Claims Hamas Supports ISIS in Sinai

July 6th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Nothing Israeli officials say is credible. Accusing Hamas of supporting ISIS terrorists battling Egyptian forces in Sinai flies in the face of its efforts to rid Gaza of their presence.

General Yoav Mordechai is Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories. He lied saying "clear information (shows) Hamas is supporting the Wilayat Sinai, which belongs to Daesh (ISIS)."

He turned truth on its head saying it's supplying weapons, training, logistical support and treatment of its wounded in Gaza hospitals.

He claimed "proof" but revealed none. He accused two Hamas members of involvement - again, with nothing backing up his claims.

He ignored close Egyptian monitoring of Sinai/Gaza border areas to prevent free movement between the two areas except when allowed through the Rafah crossing.

If ISIS Doesn’t Liberate Palestine… Who Will?

July 6th, 2015

Franklin Lamb

Ein el Helwe Palestinian camp, Lebanon.

This is one of the questions ricocheting between Palestinians in Syria and Lebanon, posed also by ISIS (Da’ish) operatives, as the hot summer months and plummeting quality of existence raise tensions in the refugee camps and social gatherings.

With its resilience, on-the-ground “achievements”, adaptability, global franchising, copy-cat knock-offs, chameleon-like adaptations, combinations and permutations, and slick honing of medium and message, ISIS is offering oppressed and desperate populations in this region both hope and fantasy for escaping their deepening misery. The dream is to escape abject poverty and indignity by any means necessary, and joining ISIS or other like-minded cash-flush groups, which seem to appear out of thin air these days, is the most promising way to do it.
