Nuland at Brookings

February 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland is one of many hardcore neocons infesting Obama's administration.

On January 27, she spoke at Washington's Brookings Institution. An elitist think tank supporting wealth, power and privilege. An establishment organization representing America's dark side.

Deploring peace. Promoting war. Featuring speakers like Nuland discussing "unity in challenging times. Building on transatlantic resolve." More on her comments below.

A previous article explained her hardcore background. A foreign service official for Democrat and Republican administrations.

No Breakthroughs in Syrian Peace Talks

February 1st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

None were expected. Conflict continues. Ongoing since March 2011. Syria is Obama's war. There's nothing civil about it.

Death squad insurgents are US proxies. Recruited, armed, funded, trained and directed by CIA operatives and Pentagon special forces.

So-called IS, Nusra Front, Al Qaeda and other takfiri terrorists are imported from dozens of countries.

Longstanding US/Israeli plans call for regime change. Replacing Assad with pro-Western stooge governance.

Mobilized & Winning, Now It’s Time to Escalate, The ‘Movement of Movements’ against Fast Tracking the TPP has the power to win

February 1st, 2015

by Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers

Since the President’s State of the Union message where he announced his plan to push corporate trade agreements and seek Fast Track trade promotion authority, the movement against Fast Track, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and globalized trade has grown. Instead of the bump in support that Obama expected after the State of the Union, opposition has increased inside Congress and in the grass roots.

Heading for War with Russia?

January 31st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Ukraine is the epicenter of possible European war. Ongoing events should scare everyone.

Kiev's war on Donbas rages. Area freedom fighters continue routing its military. It's desperate for more Western support.

Wanting greater numbers of US-led NATO boots on the ground than are already involved in fighting.

Three recent regime false flags didn't achieve Kiev's objective. Perhaps something major is planned. A Kiev 9/11.

Big enough to embroil Europe in war. Meaning East/West confrontation. America v. Russia. Possible nuclear war.

Salaita Sues University of Illinois

January 31st, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Previous articles discussed Professor Steven Salaita academic lynching. Hired by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to a tenured faculty position.

Fired for criticizing Israeli aggression on Gaza. Supporting Palestinian rights. Chancellor Phyllis Wise lied claiming otherwise.

At the time, Columbia University Professor Bruce Robbins called his firing "an outrage to anyone who cares about academic freedom or simple human decency."

"In punishing him for speaking up by taking away his job, Chancellor Wise has inscribed her name in a shameful list that includes Joseph McCarthy, among others."

On January 29, Salaita filed suit in federal court. Represented by the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and Chicago civil rights law firm Loevy & Loevy.

Islamic State Recruiter Admits Getting Funds from America

January 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Call it one of many US dirty secrets. Washington covertly recruits, funds, arms, trains, and directs extremist Islamic State and other Takfiri terrorists.

The same ones it lies about waging war on. Uses them as proxies against its adversaries.

Notably during Obama's tenure against Libya's Gaddafi. Currently against Assad in Syria. Ahead against future enemies to be named later.

Iran very much in Washington's cross hairs. Longstanding US regime change plans remain firm. RT International, Fars News and LiveLeak reported the same story. Calling Yousaf Al Salafi an IS Pakistani commander.

In detention in Pakistan, he admitted getting funds from America. On January 22, he and two associates were arrested in Lahore, said AFP.

Blowback Against Israeli State Terror

January 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel claims a divine right to attack any nation, group or individual it chooses with impunity. Considers naked aggression self-defense.

Justifiable self-defense is called terrorism. On January 18, Israeli helicopter gunship fire killed Hezbollah military leader Imad Mughniyeh in Syria's Quneitra province.

Located in Golan's demilitarized zone. The site of heavy clashes between Syrian forces and Takfiri terrorists.

Mughniyeh and five other Hezbollah fighters were killed. Plus six Iranians. Including General Mohammed Allahdaddi.

Human Rights Groups Condemn Israeli Gaza War Crimes

January 30th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Israel's Operation Protective Edge (OPE) was cold, calculated, premeditated naked aggression against 1.8 million Gazans. Previous articles explained in detail. It had nothing to do with Hamas rockets. Everything to do with preventing Palestinian self-determination.

Maintaining occupation harshness. Continuing settlement construction on stolen Palestinian land. Keeping beleaguered Gazans besieged. Sabotaging Fatah/Hamas unity. Preventing diaspora Palestinians from returning.

Having Jerusalem as Israel's exclusive capital. Denying Palestinians all international law guaranteed rights. Continuing to treat them as subhumans.

Why Do We Fear Love?

January 29th, 2015

Robert J. Burrowes

Why do human beings fear love? That is, why do we fear loving ourselves and others, and why do we fear being fully loved ourselves?

If someone does not receive what they need emotionally as a child, their capacity to give will be limited accordingly. The less of what they need they actually get, the less they will be able to give (and the more they will take for themselves without consideration for others). In order to give, one must have experienced receiving during childhood. If we do not experience love in a way that is truly meaningful, then we will never be able to love ourselves. And if we do not love ourselves, we cannot truly love another.

So what does loving really mean? To me, love means to feel a deep and abiding commitment to nurture the full evolutionary potential in someone, whether ourselves or another. Love might have other elements in particular contexts, such as in a sexual relationship or between a parent and a child, but its most genuine manifestation is its desire to nurture.

Fake Russian Spy Ring Announced

January 29th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Evgeny Buryakov, aka Zhenya

Rogue states need enemies to advance their agendas. When none exist they're invented. Longstanding US policy.

Russian national Evgeny Buryakov its latest victim. A Russian bank employee arrested in New York on phony espionage charges.

Two other Russian nationals named. Outgoing US Attorney General Eric Holder announced bogus charges.

A Department of Justice statement naming "Evgeny Buryakov, aka Zhenya,' Igor Sporyshev and Victor Podobnyy in connection with Buryakov's service as a covert intelligence agent on behalf of the Russian Federation (Russia) in New York City, without notifying the US Attorney General of Buryakov's status as an agent of Russia, as required by federal law."
