Russia Fires Ukraine as Natural Gas Transit for Europe

January 15th, 2015

Michael Collins
naturalgas

Russia executed a bold move on January 14, one that was largely unanticipated. It shows the level of disgust with both the coup-based Ukraine government and the European Union leaders and their small state followers.

Ukraine is finished as a supply route for Russian natural gas headed for European Union countries. EU countries get 25% to 30% of their natural gas from the Ukraine pipeline. The gas transiting Ukraine will be diverted to the recently announced Russia-Turkey pipeline. The Turks will create a portal at the Greek border where Europeans can purchase natural gas. The pipeline will be complete in 2017. (Image)

Of course, the EU countries will need to build the pipeline infrastructure from the Turkish portal to various European countries.

Russian natural gas delivered to Europe via Ukraine was off 47% in 2014. The end of Ukraine transit will eventually eliminate $1.7 billion a year that Ukraine earns from hosting the pipeline.

Oil Prices: What Goes Around Comes Around

January 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

As this article is written, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude stands at $45.69 a barrel. Brent at $46.59.

Down from their $114 a barrel 2014 high. Off 14% in 2015's first eight trading days. Steady at the moment as this is written.

How low can prices go? Forecasts are suspect at best. Revised as conditions change. Especially when as fast-moving as now.

The latest US Energy Information Administration forecast estimates an average $58 a barrel 2015 price. Around $75 a barrel in 2016.

In October, the World Bank forecast $96 a barrel oil in 2015. In December, the IMF estimated $85 a barrel in 2015.

The Most-Censored News Story of 2014 Was ____(What?)_____.

January 15th, 2015

By Eric Zuesse

There is only one ongoing news story that’s being systematically censored out of virtually all U.S. news media. This has been the finding from a first-of-its-kind test of virtually all U.S. news media that report national and international news. The most-censored news story during 2014 will be identified here.

The method that I employed in order to determine how heavily the U.S. press censors out a particular news story is: Throughout 2014 I constantly submitted original news reports, regarding specifically the topics that were (and still are) most widely considered by journalists (and often also by historians, and by other interested segments of the American public) to be the most puzzling and the least coherently explained and reported ongoing news stories in the American press. Prominent recent examples of such news stories are (and most of the examples that are being cited here come from my own news reports on them, my actual tests of these stories, as was summarized by me in mid-2014 here, and so that’s where you’ll find the details on these ongoing heavily-censored stories):

Charlie Hebdo Fallout in America

January 15th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Civil liberties in America and Europe are gravely threatened. Already seriously eroded.

A previous article warned of more to come following last week's Paris killings.

A mid-February White House summit will be held on Countering Violent Extremism. Expect repressive legislation to follow.

Other likely policy initiatives. Ones inimical to free society norms and standards. Growing tyranny fast replacing them.

MSM reports say little. Only that Western officials want tighter border controls. Cooperation on tracking down nationals heading to Syria and Iraq.

Combating radicalized Islamic online propaganda and recruitment. Attorney General Eric Holder stressed new measures needed to "protect the values that truly unite us."

Charlie Hebdo, Hyper-hypocrisy, and the Holohoax

January 14th, 2015

by William Hanna

“Ever since the Jews invented the libel charge of ‘anti-Semitism’ in the 1880s. It was first printed in the Jewish Encyclopaedia (1901 Vol. 1, p. 641), and has been built up with Jewish money, organisations, propaganda and lies (such as the Holocaust — Holohoax), so that now the word is like a snake venom which paralyses one’s nervous system. Even the mention of the word ‘Jew’ is shunned unless used in a most favourable and positive context.”

The Importance of Being Angry

January 14th, 2015

Robert J. Burrowes

Unfortunately, in many circles, anger has a bad reputation. There are several reasons for this. One reason is that we are scared when people are angry at us, so we try to scare people, especially children, out of being angry. By doing this, we hope to escape responsibility for our dysfunctional behavior.

Another reason that anger has a bad reputation is because it enables people to defend themselves against violence and other forms of abuse. But if we want obedient and hardworking students, reliable and pliant employees/soldiers and submissive law-abiding citizens, then we must terrorize people out of being angry. Social control is not easy with people who are powerful and you need your anger to be powerful.

Netanyahu in Paris

January 14th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

He finds ways of giving chutzpah new meaning. Gatecrashing his latest offense. Showing up where not wanted.

French President Francois Hollande's national security advisor, Jacques Audibert, asked him not to come.

Through his Israeli counterpart, Yossi Cohen. Saying Sunday's event wanted to demonstrate solidarity with France. Avoid divisive issues. Like Israeli/Palestinian relations. Longstanding unresolved conflict.

Daily Israeli state terror against millions of long-suffering Palestinians.

Audibert hoped Netanyahu would avoid controversy and stay home. Especially not take advantage for campaigning purposes.

LaRouchePAC

More than a million people surged through the boulevards of Paris yesterday in a rally for unity, described as the largest demonstration in French history, AP reports. Almost four million Frenchmen rallied throughout France, according to the Interior Ministry, including 1.2-1.6 million in Paris, in the greatest nationwide demonstrations at least since the liberation of France from the Nazis. President François Hollande said: "Today, Paris is the capital of the world...Our entire country will rise up towards something better,"

the Independent reported.

On the demonstrators, AP reported that

"many shed the aloof attitude Parisians are famous for, helping strangers with directions, cheering and crying together."

Kiev Big Lie on Ending Donbas Conflict in Two Weeks

January 14th, 2015

by Stephen Lendman

Washington runs things in Ukraine. It newest colony. Kiev's illegitimate puppet government serves its interests. Ruthlessly exploiting its people in the process.

America wants unchallenged control over Ukraine's entire land mass. As a dagger pointed at Russia's heart.

Ukraine is a pretext. Regime change in Russia the objective. Gaining another US colony. Eliminating a major rival.

Stealing its vast resources. Exploiting its people. Turning them into serfs. Isolating China. Repeating the process against Beijing.

Transforming nations into a ruler/serf societies. More unfit to live in than ever. Coups, assassinations, false flags and permanent wars its tactics of choice.

No nation in world history reflects more pure evil than America. Wrapped in the American flag. People manipulated to believe destructive US policies benefit them.
